Condition is generally sound and in good condition, no noticeable issues. Small volume set has been pre-loved and the collector's box is completely intact! Volumes and box are somewhat rubbed and handled. However, this offering of the intact box is excessively rare! As of this listing there are no offered boxed sets advertised anywhere online. GMD was 47 when the set was originally published by his good friend and fellow Scot Alexander Strahan. This set was certainly a crowning point of his career! Only occasionally did publishers honor their client with such an issue! Originally appearing in 1871, such complete sets are cost prohibitive even without the display box. This offering is a subsequent printing. A unique setting for his most important stories and poetry!
