Why Don't We Pray More?

"Anything large enough for a wish to light upon, is large enough to hang a prayer upon." George MacDonald

Why don't we pray more?

I mean, think about how much time we spend reading books (even the Bible) and talking ABOUT things to others instead of talking to God about it. Do you spend the same amount of time, probably hours, praying instead of reading? Convicting.
I Thessalonians 5 says to pray continually.

Since I've had children old enough to talk and communicate their needs, I've come to understand how much God wants us to communicate with Him. My children cry instead of talk. I think, Lord, why do we cry instead of tell you what we need? I really wish sometimes my children would use their words to tell me what they want!

Matthew 7:11
"If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"

Colossians 4:2
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."

Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in EVERY situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Ecclesiastes 12:12-13
"But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person."

Even Jesus at times went by Himself alone to places to pray to the Father, and He was without sin.
